Presenting Haus Löwenzahn (the “Dandelion House”)
Beautiful holidays start with cosy accommodation – that is the motto of the design and furnishings of the Löwenzahn Haus. We hope that holidaymakers will feel welcome and have a great time not only during their activities in the region, but also when they decide to enjoy a lazy day in or around the house. Spend a relaxing day with the kids in the spacious garden or a romantic evening by the camp fire. A fire pit is available, as well as a barbecue grill. If it happens that the weather decides to not play along, there is plenty to do indoors in the various playrooms and children’s rooms. Who cares if it rains when you can play table tennis or table football! There are also toys available for smaller children. Once the children are asleep, adults can relax in the basement with a glass of wine or a bottle of beer and play a game of darts. Most children’s necessities are provided free of charge so that the holiday pleasure begins with the packing of your luggage – you can leave a good portion of what you would normally bring for your child at home.  The house got its name, “Löwenzahn” from a children’s TV series, which has been popular for decades. At Haus Löwenzahn, children and families are the main focus. Löwenzahn (dandelions) have been used in traditional medicine for centuries. Here, they are allowed to grow everywhere and bring a humble beauty to the meadows. Most children’s necessities are provided free of charge so that the holiday pleasure begins with the packing of your luggage – you can leave a good portion of what you would normally bring for your child at home.  This will save you some precious time while packing and unpacking and it will make your trip even more convenient. The bathroom has a bathtub just for the little ones, and a changing table is also available. Travel beds? Leave them behind. We have two cots (cribs) for babies and small children. You will also find cutlery for children in the kitchen. The highlights for many are the games and gaming equipment in the playrooms, which are located in the basement and on the upper floor. In the cool months our guests can use a small wellness room located in the basement with a powerful infra-red sauna which will make you sweat. If a sauna is not really your thing, you can sit back and relax in the tastefully furnished living room, read a book or enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace. A basket full of firewood is provided to our guests at no extra charge. So, if the weather doesn’t meet your expectations, you can simply change your plans and still have a great time.

Surroundings

Hüttenrode is a part of Blankenburg – it is even considered an insider tip in the Harz region
on Facebook (for NOW!). It is a great starting point to see the sights or discover nature’s treasures by car, bicycle or on foot! A paradise for every hiker.

Arrive and just do nothing first…
Away from crowded resorts and cities, lie in the spacious garden and on the terrace or on the nearby meadow, watch butterflies … and then, relaxed, listen to your inner voice. Then, plan an excursion to one of the many destinations which you can reach quickly – thanks to the central location of Hüttenrode – on foot, by bicycle or by car. This region is known for its many hiking opportunities – awarded with the Harzer Nadel.
Small but lovely – about the resort:
The small town of Hüttenrode can be found between Blankenburg and Rübeland. It is located on a plateau surrounded by beautiful landscapes. The town was first mentioned in documents in 1133. A little later, in the 13th century, the town gained importance due to its iron ore mining industry which lasted for about 700 years.Today, Hüttenrode is a popular holiday resort. Worth seeing is a church from the 18th century, which originally had two onion towers. The church got its present look after a more cost-effective pointed roof was erected following a 1973 fire caused by a lightning strike. Many other attractions are located in the immediate vicinity of the village.A locally well-known folk festival has its home in Hüttenrode. Every year on the first weekend of August, the traditional grass dance has been celebrated here since 1885. The occasion for this festival is the end of the hay harvest. The highlight of the three-day celebration is the election of the Grass Queen and the Hay Princess on Sunday. Other attractions include the traditional parade and the hay auction. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe...
What adventure do we want to experience today?Spend time together and leave everyday life behind. – The Harz region offers families plenty of space for nature-related recreation and shared experiences. Picnic at the nearby blue lake or on the meadow which is just a yard away, take a bicycle trip through the forest; there are many designated cycling paths and trails, …or should it be a trip by car to the famous place of “witches dances” (Hexentanzplatz)? If you can’t decide, flip a coin or let your kids choose: eeny, meeny, miny moe. The nice thing about it is, you cannot lose: every day a new adventure awaits you.
I see what you don’t see…
Look here! A swallow building a nest, and there, a woodpecker is hammering. An excursion into the legendary mountain wilderness sharpens the senses for all guests, whether young or old. A holiday in the Harz National Park has a lot to offer. If you want to learn more, start your first trip in one of the eight regional visitor centres. The natural treasures of Harz are explained there to small explorers as well as their grown-up companions. However, some of them remain hidden and need to be experienced first-hand. You know the saying: You see what you want to see.
Here you can truly experience something…
There is so much to experience in the Harz!  Not only nature, but also various activities and adrenaline. Here are some suggestions:
